It boasts state-of-the-art facilities at the Ulwe campus, encompassing internal amenities like classrooms, offices, residential facilities, laboratories, and a gymnasium, along with external facilities like athlete centers, an open-air amphitheatre, an academic lawn and beautiful campus landscapes.

Jio Institute commenced its academic operations in July 2022, welcoming the inaugural batch of 119 students across two postgraduate Programmes: PGP in Artificial Intelligence and Data Science, and PGP in Digital Media and Marketing Communications. The Programmes garnered applications from 25 Indian states and 14 countries.

The selected students hail from 18 Indian states, Union territories, and four countries outside India, reflecting diverse socio-economic backgrounds. They also possess rich experience from various functional and industry backgrounds, with over four years of professional involvement. Notably, more than 25% of the PGP students are women, and scholarships were granted to 28%, with 48% being women.

But Jio Institute's vision extends beyond academic pursuits. The institution takes a holistic approach to education, aligning its academic goals with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly in offering accessible and equitable quality education to all.

Nurturing India’s youth and future leaders

Reliance has been providing scholarships to meritorious students for over 25 years, inspired by its Founder-Chairman Shri Dhirubhai Ambani’s belief that the best way to ensure the nation’s progress is to invest in its youth. Reliance Foundation Scholarships aim to nurture and empower students, enabling them to pursue higher education.

In pursuing a brighter tomorrow, Reliance Foundation recognises the transformative power of education and the pivotal role of scholarships in making this a reality for many young people. Over the years, these scholarships have touched the lives of over 13,000 deserving students in India, opening doors of opportunity and nurturing future leaders.

The Dhirubhai Ambani Scholarship (DAS), established in 1996, awards scholarships to students from underprivileged backgrounds. It empowers outstanding students to pursue their dreams of higher education, regardless of financial constraints. With 12,776 students benefitting from DAS across India, the impact reaches far and wide, embracing diversity and inclusivity.

In 2020-21, the Reliance Foundation Scholarships (RFS) took flight, aiming to support India's brightest youth in fields like Artificial Intelligence, Computer Sciences, Mathematics & Computing, and Electrical and/or Electronics Engineering. The rigorous selection process identifies 100 exceptional students annually, enabling them to soar and lead India's technological growth.

In December 2022, on the occasion of the 90th birth anniversary of Shri Dhirubhai Ambani, Founder - Chairman of Reliance Industries Limited, Reliance Foundation announced that it will significantly strengthen its commitment to youth, awarding 50,000 scholarships over the next 10 years for students pursuing higher education in India.

For the academic year 2022-23, Reliance Foundation will be awarding up to 5,000 merit-cum-means undergraduate scholarships of Rs. 2 lakh and up to 100 merit-based postgraduate scholarships of Rs. 6 lakh, both for the entire duration of study. Beyond financial assistance, Reliance Foundation offers a nurturing support system to scholars, including a vibrant alumni network and transformative development programmes, expert interactions, industry exposure, and volunteering opportunities, fostering a generation of brilliance every year.

Recognising their pivotal function in society, Reliance Foundation instituted the prestigious Reliance Foundation Teacher Awards (RFTA) to honour and celebrate India's teachers, inspiring them to strive for excellence.

The RFTA recognises the top 1,000 teachers who exhibit extraordinary dedication and brilliance in the Teaching Professionals Olympiad (TPO), an esteemed competition organised by the Centre for Teacher Accreditation (CENTA). This initiative is supported by Reliance Foundation with a cash prize of ₹1 lakh awarded to the top three national rank holders.

Foundational Literacy and Numeracy

Bridging the learning gap with Foundational Literacy and Numeracy

In the wake of the unprecedented COVID-19 pandemic, the world witnessed a significant educational landscape disruption, impacting millions of children. As nations grappled with the challenges of remote learning, Reliance Foundation took a proactive step to address this learning gap through the 'EdTech Accelerator' - a transformative multi-partner initiative.

As a founding partner, Reliance Foundation joined hands with a consortium comprising the British Asian Trust, Central Square Foundation, UBS Optimus Foundation, and the US Agency for International Development (USAID). Together, the purpose was to embark on a mission to strengthen children's Foundational Literacy and Numeracy (FLN) skills, empowering them for a brighter future.

The EdTech Accelerator’s primary objective is to fund high-quality EdTech solutions that break barriers and provide affordable and quality learning opportunities for low-income populations. Through innovative ideas, these solutions will be designed, piloted, measured, and tested to ensure their efficacy in empowering young learners.

Year one will witness the distribution of impact-focused grant funding and dedicated mentoring, paving the way for transformative change. In year two, the initiative will further scale up this vital work, aiming to reach up to an astounding 25 lakh (2.5 million) children by 2025. The EdTech Accelerator is integral to the 'Back to School Outcomes Fund,' a ground-breaking collaborative effort alongside the Government of India's NIPUN Bharat Mission. With a shared vision, this exceptional alliance aims to achieve FLN goals for all children across India.
