Integrated Ph.D.

The Institute offers exciting opportunities to motivated and talented Bachelor’s degree holders with a keen sense of scientific enquiry for pursuing advanced research in frontier areas of Biological, Chemical, Physical and Mathematical Sciences leading to a Ph D degree. Experience shows that students entering this program save nearly a year compared to those who go for a 2 year Master’s degree program elsewhere and then join the Institute for a Ph D program. Each year, the Institute admits 70 to 90 students (15 to 23 in the Biological Sciences, 15 to 23 in the Chemical Sciences, 15 to 23 in the Physical Sciences and 15 to 23 in the Mathematical Sciences) under this program.

M.Tech. (Research) and Ph.D.

The Institute offers opportunities for pursuing advanced research in frontier areas of science, engineering and technology to motivated and talented students with a keen sense of scientific inquiry. Research students constitute the largest group on the campus (more than 70% of the student body). The Institute awards about 250 Ph D and M Tech (Research) degrees, every year.

External Registration Programme (ERP) for Ph.D./M.Tech. (Research)

The External Registration Programme (ERP) at the Institute provides opportunities to

(1) individuals employed in R & D environments in scientific institutions or industries and

(2) young Engineering / Science faculty members of all Engineering Colleges/Universities including Agricultural, Pharmaceutical, Veterinary, Medical Colleges,/Universities recognized by appropriate government agencies to pursue research degrees in Science / Engineering.
